Work Permit
A U.S. work permit, also known as an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), is a legal document that allows non-citizens to work in the United States.
Who Needs It?
Non-citizens in the U.S. on certain visas or statuses that don’t automatically grant the right to work (e.g., asylum seekers, students on F-1 visas with OPT, or spouses of some visa holders).
Who Doesn’t Need It?
If you already have a work visa like H-1B or L-1, you don’t need a separate work permit because those visas already allow you to work for a specific employer.
How Long Is It Valid?
Usually valid for 1 or 2 years and can be renewed if you remain eligible.
